Khalis (ਖ਼ਾਲਿਸ) is a versatile word; as well as meaning "pure" in Arabic and Sanskrit, in the Persian context it means "free" or "independent". This idea of independence forms an integral part of our vision. With this podcast we aim to supplement our publication work with meaningful discussion on history, ideology, philosophy, culture and the identity that shapes who we are today, as Sikhs in the 21st century.

As the founder and editor-in-chief of Kaur Life – a non-profit, online magazine geared to empowering Kaurs and Sikh women, Lakhpreet Kaur is also a freelance writer and photographer who has been published in Teen Vogue, Texas Monthly, NBC News, Huffington Post and other online journals

In this episode we discuss Lakhpreet's work, the purpose and growth of KaurLife, specific articles - in particular, some that touch upon the power dynamics that have, and continue to, perpetuate the marginalisation of voices within the Panjabi and Sikh community.
